Assumption of the Virgin Mary Byzantine Catholic Church.

In seeking a better life in a far off country, Carpatho-Rusin emigres to America settled in the historic City of Trenton and in 1891 established the Greek Catholic Rusin Church of the Assumption of the Most Pure Virgin Mary. The Church was so central to Carpatho-Rusin life no one could imagine not having it in their midst. In a strange new land the liturgical life provided comfort and stability as they labored in the Roebling Steel Company and other work-places.

The Byzantine Catholic Church of the Virgin Mary is part of the Eparchy of Passaic. We follow the Constantinopolitan Tradition of the Catholic Church led by His Grace, Kurt R. Burnette. We are in full communion with the Church of Rome led by His Holiness, Pope Francis. We are part of the Metropolia of Pittsburgh, PA sui iuris. Please click on the history tab for a more complete account of our establishment.

Currently, Saint Nicholas Church in Roebling, established in 1914, is attached as a filial parish. Both parishes are proud to serve the spiritual lives of the Carpatho-Rusin and Hungarian believers. Know that you, too, visitors to our site are most welcome to join us in either parish as we worship God, One in the Holy Trinity, on our journey to the Eternal Now!
